| nradio-01-setupandchecks.mp3 | Notacon Radio Setup and Checks In which Jason tries helplessly to get his shit together. Sound checks, level checks, discussion of the equipment, and Jason prattling on while a different speech by Jason is blowing along in the background ("Saving Digital History" from Hope 2004). Jason discusses the PMM671 and his other audio equipment, as well as the plans for Notacon Radio. Jason hands off the reins and gets the hell away. | nradio-02-furthersetupsandchecks.mp3 | Further Setup, Checks, and Ramen In which we get the show off the road and make ourselves some noodles.... (Edited down from a number of hours) Jason continues some sound tests and introducing the others the equipment, and then leaves to get his Podcasting speech ready. Ponyboy takes over and chats a bit. Is eating Ramen Noodles on the air a bad idea? Droops doesn't think so. Making an ATM that will give change in singles at strip clubs; either back to you or showering a stripper with the bills. Heating continues, and Ponyboy makes a mistake heating up his noodles. Droops invites everyone onto Notacon Radio. Droops bemoans talking too fast during his presentation, and talks about the content of it. Droops reminds everyone about the many fine items on the table, and asks Slick0 a few things. Questions about the 4th issue of Binrev magazine, and when it's coming out. Pony and Droops apologize to Jason because he's going to have to edit all this later. Minutes of quiet air take place. (Picks back up again around 17:00). Ponyboy asks if someone wants to run a radio station, and then explains how the whole thing works. Lowtek is not pleased with the setup, EQ, arrangement. At this point, it's discovered the stream is feeding back into itself with a 15 second delay. Hey, hey, hey, hey, check check check check! Froggy stops by and answers where the Podcasting talk is. "I am ready to be on the radio!" Further testing and a discussion of whether Ponyboy likes his Ramen. "Wait a second.. we're LIVE!?" Even MORE checks take place, with punctuated silence as everyone learns the mixing board. A few promotions are played. Irv shows up and starts giggling through his sound checks. The Little Debbie Oatmeal cakes are discovered, considered and worshipped. What is Shame? "What sets us free is that nobody's listening." The Fudge Rounds are discovered. (Jason's talk ends) Star Wars Kid settled out of court. The EFF is bringing two patent lawsuits. Irv shows his Sling box. Where's Jason? Jason's Norton Antivirus expires, derision all around. Jason comes back after the speech to say hello and check on things. Jason Scott, Ponyboy, Droops, Slick0, Lowtek_Mystik, Froggy, Dial-a-Dorks, "Tom" | 39M | 0:42:30 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| nradio-03-dialadork1.mp3 | The Dial-A-Dorks Hour 1 In which Irv, Drew, and the gang take over Notacon Radio for the start of a very long evening. Jason talks about the device he used to record his speech and download into the machine, and what it does. "That's an excellent piece of Flair." Some impromptu reviews of Jason's Podcasting speech. Where's Adam Curry? Lots of ugly gossip about Adam Curry. Where's the crazy reefer party? Dutch Ovens and Fudge Rounds! Soundchecks, cable-checks, and Notapens. Matt is still opening windows. (11:47) Welcome to Dial-a-Dorks! Almost. Froggy: "HACK THE PLANET!!!!" A Cross-Platform Virus (Windows and Linux). Level check and beer check. Congratulations to the Star Wars Kid for settling. Irv was sued for $550,000 so he understands; Irv tells the story of how his splash of water in a pool got him sued. Irv thinks the settlement for the Star Wars kid was likely small. NTP is during further lawsuits related to patents. Netflix has sued Blockbuster for renting movies online. School of Rock isn't as great the second time. EFF is also doing patent lawsuits, trying to kill bad patents like one for online testing. ATT is routing traffic to the NSA. Where are the Beer Wenches? The wonder of FOOBIES.COM. Level check on Irv! Where's the Fudge Rounds! Can Irv be hauled back into court? Using Easynews for global searches of a porn star. Gossip on Hugh Hefner and his sexual proclivities. General talk on the quality of Playmates these days. Irv notices the laptop has a numeric keyboard. Droops stops by. Where people live in Cleveland these days. Irv lives in Tremont, with the lead paint. Irv checks people's machines: the record was 1600 pieces of spyware on a single machine he checked. Giving advice for people to get laptops to do some of their work. More war stories with laptops, oil, and body fluids. A sticky keyboard is a warning sign. Zach Campbell sits down and talks about the Packetsniffers show. A short discussion of the way that Dial-a-Dorks can be found, what they do. They don't have handles, just nicknames. Zach's previous handle The Sector Molestor didn't work out with his new job in a preschool. Knightlord drops in and gets involved. The World of Warcraft Funeral ambush. Irv, Drew, Matt, Dewey, Dr. James Schmidt, Froggy, Tyger, Jason Scott, Zach Campbell, Knightlord 56M
